XVI São Paulo Marathon and XIV Rio de Janeiro Half Marathon have actions together
The two greatest and best distance races in Brazil are already accepting registrations for 2010 editions.
São Paulo (SP) – the two greatest and best distance races in Brazil are being promoted in joined actions in 2010. The Sao Paulo Marathon, to be held on May 2nd and the Rio de Janeiro Half Marathon, on August 22nd, both already taking registrations are considered sisters races and will have important differentials, planned by Yescom, Organizer of the competitions, which are promoted by Rede Globo TV.
All registered in the 42,195 meters of São Paulo race 2010, for instance, who are also running the Rio Half Marathon the same year, will receive a special treatment at the kit pick up of Rio Half. At exclusive booths and services, all participants will receive a complementary kit of the 2010 Rio Half Marathon, which is written in the rules and regulations of the São Paulo Maratho
Everyone interested in participating of the XVI São Paulo Int’l Marathon must fill out the form on www.maratonadesaopaulo.com.br by April 23rd or when the limited number of entries is reached. The Organizer is expecting over 18,000 registrations.
As in the last two years, both races start on Jornalista Roberto Marinho Avenue, having as a background view the new sight of São Paulo; the Octávio Frias de Oliveira Bridge, known also as Ponte Estaiada. The finish of both the marathon and the 10K race is at Ibirapuera, while the 25K race finishes at Escola Politécnica Avenue, next to IPT (Surveys and Technilogy Institute). The 3K non-competitive walk also finishes on Jornalista Roberto Marinho Avenue.
Beautiful scenery – the XIV Rio de Janeiro Int’l Half Marathon starts at São Conrado Beach and finishes 21,097 meters ahead at Aterro do Flamengo, showing one of the most beautiful scenery of the Road races around the world. The Organizer expects to reach 17,000 participants next year’s edition, which proves the event’s high potential and popularity, despite its quite hard course, a real challenge for inexperienced runners.
On line registrations on www.meiamaratonadoriodejaneiro.com.br will be available by August 10th 2010. However the date might be anticipated, in case the limited number of entries is reached.
Both the São Paulo Marathon and the Rio Half Marathon promise to gather together the best Brazilian athletes and a team of foreign invited runners, chosen under rigorous criteria by the Organizer.
A complete infra-structure including hydration stations, medical support, lockers, medals, after-race snacks, promotional t-shirt besides cash prizes for elite runners will be set-up in both events.
Valid for the Yescom Rank, Road Runners CBAt/ Caixa Rank and Rede Globo/ Yescom Ranks, the races are a Rede Globo event, organized by Yescom under the rules and supervision of IAAF, CBAt, AIMS and FPA. The Sao Paulo Marathon is supported by São Paulo Local Government Administration, as well as the Rio Half Marathon receives the support of FAERJ and the Rio de Janeiro Mayor.
